Basket Weave Technique

When I saw this technique on Lyssa Zwolanek’s blog, I had to try it!  It’s just stunning what she discovered the Brick Wall embossing folder and the Hardwood background stamp can create!! I used this as the technique for my stamp club, and they fell in love with it!

Here is a little tutorial of how I modified it.  I found that the Blender Pen was easier in the last step to blend Early Espresso into the mortar centers to create the shadow of the weaves.

I want to try this technique again but make it look like bamboo! It was fun to see how everyone’s card looked a little different!  Such a great technique!

To make the succulents, I used the bone folder to bend the flowers back.  Then I used Sweet Sugarplum and a sponge to distress the petals.  TIP: I cut my sponge into 1/6 pieces.  I then use a punched piece of that color cardstock and staple it to the sponge.  That way I know what color it is for next time.

Let me know how your card turns out!
